Drumstick Poriyal

My mom prepares sambar and vathal kuzhambhu with Drumstick. The vegetable soaked in the sambar and vathal kuzhambhu tastes great with Curd rice. After i got married i came to know about this new recipe, which i have never thought of. It is drumstick poriyal. Drumstick nicely boiled with salt and sambar podi and mixed with onion/tomato gravy gives a great aroma and taste as a side dish.

Drumstick cut into not so big pieces
Onion - Cut into small pieces
Tomato - Cut into small pieces
Salt
Turmeric Powder
Sambar powder
Oil - little for seasoning
Mustard seeds and Jeera for seasoning
Curry leaves
Corriander leaves

Put the drumstick pieces in required amount of water. Add salt, turmeric powder and sambar powder to it and let the veg cook nicely. Make sure the veg is cooked but dont let the mix become too dry. Let it be little watery. Now heat oil in a kadai and add the mustard seeds and jeera. Once they start to splutter, add the curry leaves. Now fry the onion nicely and add the drumstick mix to it. Add the tomato pieces also to it. Mix all of them well and keep it in sim, till the tomatoes are mashed nicely and mixed with the veg. Finally add the coriander leaves and remove from flame.

Try this and let me know your comments. :)
