Peerkangaai Paruppu Kadaisal

Items needed: (Pic 1)
Peerkangai - 1 lengthy one, skin peeled and cut into small cubes
onion, tomato, green chilly - as required
tamarind - a small ball size
salt and oil - as required
Toor dhal - 1 cup

Method:
Cook dhal seperately and keep it aside. Now cut the vegetables. Add onion, tomato, chillies and tamarind piece to dhal. Add little turmeric powder and salt and pressure cook it. Leave for 3 or 4 whistles.Once the steam settles, remove the lid and mash all of them nicely but not too much that it becomes a paste. Let the veg and onion show up. Now add corriander leaves. Add fried mustard and jeera seeds to add flavour.

Alternate method: Fry toor dhal in a dry kadai for few mins. When nice flavour starts, the above method can be done.
